Forgiveness

I don't think you understand
Just how forgiveness works
It's not just for yourself to heal
But those who gave you hurts.

Waiting until the pain and shame
have caused your body stress,
will only leave scars on your soul
and your mind will be distressed.

Give forgiveness when you can
even if never asked for
because those who don't know how
to forgive, surely need it more.

Forgive the driver who cut you off
while travelling down the road,
forgive the friend who doesn't see
you carry a heavy load.

Forgive the child for wrongs the do
they learned them from somewhere.
Forgive the family who acts like
strangers, who don't know how to care.

Forgive yourself, ill thoughts and deeds
but learn from your mistakes,
sometimes a little forgiveness
is really all it takes.
