'forgive Me'

It ended as quickly as it began, You were gone and everything was empty. A suffocating silence filled your place that left me With the looming hope if your return. I waited, wondered, worried that you'd forgotten, But every few months I'd get a postcard in the mail Of a place I've never been, With the same scribbled message Over and over, "Forgive me."
