Forgive Me
These are the psalms of a sinner.
The chronicles of me
Engraved on sacred scrolls and set out to sea.
You said that nothing in heaven or earth would ever tear us apart.
I pray that you forgive me for my unclean heart.
Father please forgive me for all of my sins
For the depth of my inequities stirring within.
Father please forgive me for my impure thoughts
For all the wrong I’ve learned, for all the wrong that I’ve taught
So many times I’ve stepped out of your light, and I dwelled in the dark
I’ve held contempt in my soul, and hate in my heart
Father please forgive me, for I have transgressed
I thought I’d conquer the trials, and I failed every test
Father please forgive me, for not taking your hand
Time and time, you gave me chance after chance
Father please forgives me for not choosing your path.
Instead of roaming green pastures, I walked on withered grass.
Father please forgive me for all I have done
For I have spoken death, and I have slayed with my tongue
Father please forgive me, for I went astray
I turned my back on your words, and I walked away.
Father please forgive me, I pray that you hear my pleas
Forgive the trespasses of a sinner like me.
