Forget What Happed Between Us

My muse once sleeping is awake.
She was up long before daybreak
to catch the first long-distance bus.
“Forget what happed between us”.

She's been so nice to me last night
and so submissive that I might
have thought that she and I… Alas,
“Forget what happed between us”.

“I tired, - she said, - to be your muse,
to search for reasons to excuse
your absences, to wait, to cuss…
Forget what happed between us.

You are the most ingrate brunet
with blue-grey eyes I ever met
and furthermore, you’re Russian. Thus
forget what happed between us.”

Kurt, your poetic expression has me tied around your creative little finger, as I hang on your every line, each a gem! Your last stanza is a great finale. I’m enthralled! Warmest wishes always my inspiring friend.. ~Susan

Had to laugh a bit at that 'You are Russian' bit. As my family members tell me, 'Who isn't?!' … Nice refrain, by the way. :) gw
