Forgave

We found your dad
he says
He lives here
I was excited for a few minutes
then I was in tears

He ask if want him to contact my dad
I said no
I said just give me the address so I'll know where to go

I want to talk to him privately
One on One
Just him and me

I finally went to his house
I knocked and he opened the door
We looked at each other and he knew
He knew
I can see it in his eyes
I start to cry
And he hugged me
And said baby I'm sorry
And then he cried
He said, baby I'm so sorry

So many years of being a victim of abuse and hate
All that anger and sorrow finally went away
Of course I asked him a lot of questions
I forgave
Today is another day
