Forever Means Goodbye

On filmy wings of fantasy
And abruptly ending dreams of
what can never be,
Technicolor nightmares and
whispered screams
Unending if only for now.
Piercing darkness fills the mind
Solace, silence too loud to find.
Sweat-stained sheets and
memories
Beg irrevocability.
Love me, hate me, let me go
I beg you please, I don't want
to know.
But, that's today, tonight, right
now,
Tomorrow that could change.
Tempted by finality
What could that blinking
beacon be?
Why can't she just let you go?
Hell, why cant I?
Sinking sickness, heaven and
hell, living rather than existing,
Where no angel dare dwell.
Demons drinking from my
despair,
Lost ne'er to be found.
Fools and wiseman have often
preached
Only those with souls can be
reached.
And only those without a heart
Would do what you've done to
me.
Supposedly, a suspicious mind
Marks only those with
something to hide.
But not where one would
expect to find...
I know what you'll do - I don't
trust myself.
Temptation breeds wanton
deceit,
Festers, grows, emotional
defeat.
Betrayal beyond what words
can say
Mind and body and soul.
What happened to forever and
always?
Guess your life still had too
many days,
To fun any sense of eternity
With the one you know it
belongs to.
And when I can't play naive
anymore
And I find the strength to show
you the door,
Don't ever think you can come
back to me.
Forever means goodbye.

Insanely powerful statement in the ending. "Find the strength to show you the door", damn.
