Forever

As the dawn breaks
I feel my shell drift away
So, if I have gone
Before you wake
There’s something I feel
I should say

Too long I’ve waited
For the dream to bleed
Into the veins of the real
Too far I’ve drifted
As the winds revive
The rotting sails

If it means my life
If it means the memory
If it means my soul
And all of eternity
Even then, my love
You will have all of me

My vision drowns
As I kneel down
To kiss you one last time
Sleep soundly, my angel, now
Waking will deliver the nightmare
So, keep closed your eyes
For I might, then, truly be immortal

Your hand clasps mine
Reflexive as it may be
Is a gesture, so precious to me
Screaming inside, I whisper, “Goodbye”
For the sun will not stop for our love

My sweet, if I’m to go
Before you wake
Know that not all dreams are evil
And some are eternal
My heart lives on
Inside of yours
Whilst the shell has blown away

Resting on the breeze, I find you
Listen carefully, I wish to say
My precious, I love you
And I am here with you, now and always
