Forest Memory
The sunlight filtered down through layers of green leaves, creating a natural ecosystem.. Deer moved silently across the soft carpet of pine needles, and foxes slipped between the shadows like whispers.
Dappled light falls?
through ancient branches,
silence holds the forest's breath
Underground, our roots tangled together in friendship. The mushrooms spoke in their secret language while the earth breathed slowly beneath us. After summer storms, everything smelled fresh and clean.
During rain-washed morning
?even the smallest pebbles
?shine with new promise.
Then came the harsh sound of metal teeth biting the wood. The chainsaw's scream shattered our peaceful world. Where giant trees once stood, only empty sky remained, cold and bright.
Saw dust settles
where my brother's shadow fell,?
harsh sun burns the earth
Small creatures scattered in terror. Birds fled on frantic wings while mice ran in circles, their fear filling the wounded air. I felt myself growing weaker, my own roots losing their grip.
Broken branches
even the wind sounds different
through this hollow place
At the forest's edge, one small sapling remained, a defiant spark of green life. In the ruins, beetles still worked and seeds waited patiently in the soil for their time to grow.
Tender shoot grows
?from my fallen body,
hope reaches toward the light
