Notes About The Poem

Forest Green

Lovely are the woods of Aberdeen,
With many a grassy hill and sudden ravine,
Far beyond the most recent care,
Where the ruby sun doesn't dare.

Color as rich as soft velvet,
Deep green now and deeper yet.
Dense and dark and coolly calm,
Heart's serenity, nature's balm.

Precious life, beautiful and free,
Is cloaked most royally.
Such are forests of sweet Aberdeen,
The like of which were never seen.

And carpeted grounds to walk upon
To meditate flitting papillon!
Branching limbs of trees so tall,
And a green canopy covers all.

Jade and emerald and occasionally lime,
This is the wood that outlasted time.
A vibrant green that's seen no change
And like all beauty, it's strange.
