Forbidden Love

Japanese girl of ivory skin
bows down and holds the
hand of the man who gazes
into her almond eyes and
declares a useless love

He holds years behind
his tired face and he
knows that golden bird
in cage will never be his

And she will never sing
the song he wants to hear
as she lives behind silken curtain
of Geisha world in scented
garden of the forbidden dream..

A lovely poem, yet has a rather melancholy feel...a forbidden longing that can never be! Beatifully written, Valerie. ! Carrie
