For You

I dream as I’m awake,
I dream as I’m asleep
Not leaving dreams to rot,
but bringing them to life.
You’re so far ahead,

But my love, you’re so near.

Lived to reach you,
Lived to achieve you,
Worked hard for you

My dear, you’re my American
Dream.

Wrapped in lavender
Filled with laughter
Glowing bright
Radiating light
Blisters covering hands
Cuts on my feet
Sweat stuck on my skin
All that for a suit and an “I do”.
