For Ways To Speak

Tonight there are broken bits of moon scattered about the surface of a rippled pond, trying to draw themselves together again like a broken web of spider silk after a rain. If I were a window, I would open myself and let you hear the spaces that surround these broken bits of light, small dancing shards of my heart folding itself inward around the words I would once have spoken. But now, I can't let the words trickle through my own mind, I can never let them get to my tongue or even to my fingertips... I am becoming my own silence. ...but love, love cries for ways to speak.

I read your newest poem "The Rose" today and thought it was very universal in it's expressed language of what is and what appears to be...and what once was...and it is usually too late when the true face of something surfaces...and we move on and make the best of things...one way or another. I hope you are well. J.

I keep re- reading this poem . It is a compelling piece and is now on my favs list. It is wonderful to call you friend. I especially liked the line about the broken spider web after rain....I have grieved for them too. Be well, SuZ

The farm here affords many observations such as these, pond, spiders, moons, birds, stars and so forth. Thank you for your kind response Suzanne. :) J.

For a first posted poem on the Soup, this is a remarkable poem, JT! The first two lines are very graphic and true to nature. Beauty is ineffable at times. I am at a lost at times to describe it but words fail me. I have a short poem attempting to describe this. Thank you for reading my work. You are a man of learning, I appreciate that. / M

This is such a whimsical piece of poetry, J, and gave the reader, (me) much pleasure. Oh this line, "I am becoming my own silence." What beautiful words, only setting up the last two words of the poem. Excellent!

Your analogy about the broken bits of moon in the pond is very imaginative and poignant, and I was impressed by how the thoughts developed through out this piece of introspection ... crying out to be heard whether or not you know the words. A stunning first post from you.
