For the Shortest While, Eternal

for the shortest while, eternal,
   as an enigma
      of the epitome
         of quiet beauty...

dewy, white petals
   as its oblation,
      its gratitude,
         its prayer...

as it beams and blooms,
   as it worships the sky - -
      sampaguita, fragrant,
         eternal, for the shortest while.
