For Sarah

She wore a big yellow ribbon in her hair Sarah did not walk, she danced or skipped, From place to place, from here to there She wore a big yellow ribbon in her hair She was a little girl with an exuberant flair Always singing a song, never tight-lipped She wore a big yellow ribbon in her hair Sarah did not walk, she danced or skipped.

Sarah sounds adorable; I imagine she still skips when she walks.

I don't know about that, Caren. This was Sarah a long time ago. She has gone through some troubles and trials, but I'd like to think she's still skipping. That's how I remember her.

Thanks for creating such a lovely vision of Sarah. I can picture her now, skipping along, ribbon in hair. The little girl next door! ~ Gershon

Thanks so much, Ilene. Sarah was a very sweet little girl. Things sort of changed as she grew into womanhood, however. I like to remember her like this.

I'm sure she, and your other grandchildren, bring you much happiness. Hoping you share this with Sarah.

Thank you, Jenna. Long story. I recall Sarah from her childhood days. She grew up, went her way, and I do not hear from her as much as I'd like. I keep up with her through my son, her uncle. Her mother and I have no relationship.

Oh, I'm remembering her as a little girl. I haven't seen her in ages. She is now a mother several times over. She lives in New Mexico, and I haven't been out there for probably ten years.

They leave a mark on you, don’t they?

They do, indeed, Jeff. My Sarah now has two children of her own, making me a great-grandfather, but I remember her best as that little girl I described in my poem.

Aww…so lovely! A poem and tribute to be cherished. Perhaps I should revamp the poems about my 3 kids in this form. Hugs ~ Kim

Thank you so much, Kim. I'm sure they would treasure such a poem written by their mother.
