For My Children

You’re all in charge of authoring a story Of love and humor, suspense and glory You’re writing starts with your very first thought And doesn’t end til your life is naught. Know, My Dears, these books; your own There are no cowriters; authors unknown Flip those pages and make your quills dance Miss no opportunities, take a chance If somewhere in those thick tomes of yours You have questions “whys and what fors?” Do not ponder and then overthink For there’s no such thing as permanent ink There will be some tearstained pages Most likely in your middle ages There will be words you’d like to forget Or phrases in which you may regret But when it reaches the golden stage The best of the story in a later page Grab a pencil and throw some sparks And don’t be afraid of eraser marks Then once it’s written and you do find There was a time of hurt when life’s unkind Go ahead and toss out awful chapters Because Momma loves Happily Ever Afters

This is excellent in content, delivery, flow and attitude. Just perfect and ready for a big red bow. Profoundly serious wagging a playful tail - that's my kinda Mothering so I am in love with this. I haven't done much reading/commenting in quite awhile (been too domestically everything with Billy here and other happening stuff as well) and I've barely written either so I'm a bit Soup off-center. This morning is my best atonement attempt in weeks. I'm faving this. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

Hey, my poetry sibling! (smiles). It seems I've drawn a blank lately. I think my muse is off vacationing in the Bahamas or something. (deserter!). Missing you. If you are on FB, find me!

Yes, Hon...we are friends on FB...and I know how that goes. I'm trying to keep up on Instagram, FB, and here...plus write my book and work full time...wigging out! Lol. But I miss my friends on each site if I'm away too long. What to do? What to do?...Thank you for your encouragement of my writing. It is people like you that keep me inspired to continue.

I'm sorry I'm only just reading this gem. Rhoda this is the letter many mothers would wish to leave their children. I do hope you're okay over there ... starting to worry a bit.

Thank you, FJ for your concern. You are a sweetheart. Just been busy with keeping up three poetry sites, writing my book, working with someone to produce Burlap and Satin, family and home, and working so many overtime hours at my job. Much of it is self imposed stress, but that is typical of me. Thank you for caring. You are so kind.

Everyone gets to write their own story, except for the kids whose parents try to write their story for them. Nicely written my friend. John

That is the truth, some parents are that way. I prefer to let my children make their own mistakes, as I have, as screw ups are our best teachers. Thank you for your continued support. Much appreciated, John.

Your words of advise are not to be ignored, Rhoda. Life is made up of many different experiences...one needs to learn from them, enjoy some, discard others... and then move forward. ~ Regards // paul

You are right, Paul, and I find that even at age fifty, I don't have it all figured out, other than the fact that eraser marks and missing chapters are a wise move. lol. Thank you, Dear, for your friendship. It is invaluable.

Amazing, heartfelt, and possibly the longest poem I've read clear through. (I have the attention span of a gnat) You are truly amazing Rhoda. Well done!
