For Keeps

 She wanted to break up
He wanted to play for keeps
Had she missed the red flags
 That could cause her grief

Some people just can't let go
  They may even get violent
when someone breaks up with them
She will have a restraining order to show

He might stalk her for a while
As in the shadows he creeps
Sadly, in the game of love
Some want to play for keeps!

' Some people just can't let go. ' You're right, Joseph. It's wrong to hold onto someone if they don't feel the same. Reacting in a violent manner, isn't the way to handle this or any situation. My best to you. Hugs, Brandy

If love has ended, it is not right to insist.

Joseph, your poem is truly magnificent! It is profoundly disheartening when circumstances necessitate the issuance of a restraining order.

it's very sad indeed when one has to get a restraining order. I watch lots of crime shows. Many of those things end badly. Great poem, Joseph

An excellent poem. As someone who watches 'Forensic Files' on TV, I can imagine the fear this woman may feel. It is a very good read.

This is such an introspective and deep write, dear Joseph.. Sigh, this is the reality in today's world, when true meaning of love is lost somewhere. Some try to play for the keep, as they trace manipulative paths that prove haunting for the other person.. I really like how you've brought this to highlight in this thoughtful poem, so effortlessly! Sending best wishes and light your way.
