For Katie

When someone goes missing
out of your life.
Do they know they're missing
causes strife?
It tear's at the soul
just like a knife,
and at moments fills the mind
with all sorts of frights

Then comes the darkness
that color of the night
They wonder endlessly with worry
are they all right?
Should I go a looking
indeed I might
But fearing what i'll find
may just hurt my sight.

My mind says "Leave worry,
leave worry, leave worry alone!"
Why torture yourself over
someone who won't even phone?
Some people are still children
pretending to be grown.
They don't care if you worry
and they let it be known.

"Back away, back away!!"
it's true love again
I let myself love someone
knowing it was sin.
But how can one escape
the desire of the heart
The reoccurring dream
fanciful imaginative thought
From the beginning.
I have not left the path
And yet this night of worry
the blurry aftermath.

Tomorrow is a new day
I know not what it brings
But if it brings you back
my soul will loudly sing
But if it be the opposite
and i accept the change in you.
Then I'll not worry you with calling
and I'll tell myself it's through.

(worries over for now. but they will ever haunt me as long as i love)

You have done a great job explaining how the majority of all of us encounter the fear and loss of a loved one. Thank you so much for your comments on my poem "I have to Thank My Sister". I was pleasantly surprised.

You took the words right out of my ...heart, John. Whether it's a grown son or daughter, or a parent or a dear friend, or a beloved, it's bewildering, to be sure, when they just drop away with never a word. Sometimes I wonder about the soul lesson that is available in this when the pattern presents itself over and over again as it has in my life. Whatever it is, you've given a heartfelt poem on the subject, and done it well.

Mmmm good! A poet must love because love enables the poet to feel, and poetry is the metaphor of emotions in the language of feelings.

Those that we worry about usually don't have a clue but at least you care enough to be concerned about them. Keep the creative thoughts flowing. Sara

great job, if we don't have love--well it is worth the worry, right?

I understand so well about worrying over those we love. I feel saddened that you are worried about someone who cares not to phone or communicate their whereabouts. She doesn't deserve you. Give your true love to someone who is ready to love you truly as well. Thanks for sharing and thank you for your congrats on my poem today. Best wishes, Caroline.

Leave worry alone. That is so hard to do. Longing for a lost love is hard on the soul. God Bless Phyl

Ah, this is a tough place to be, John. We've all been there at one time or another and "it too shall pass". There is always a better day right around the corner, if we just keep hoping. Beautiful write. Thank you for reading and leaving your kind comments on my poems. Peace, Audrey

So true, so true, and I am in the same process but we must remember Tenneyson "'Tis better to have loved and lost. Than never to have loved at all" ..as usual I pray for concept separation into verse like form, punctuation and capitalization..I truely feel the lack of it makes this most excellent verse SO much harder to absorb. Light & Love (If you have an actual reason for not doing the forementioned OK but if you just can't bother..well??? that's not a good reason is it?)

John, those kind of people are very annoying, in my opinion. But that's just me. I am the opposite, always wanting to make sure people know what I am doing. Maybe THAT is just as irritating to other people. haha.Anyway, this is a very heartfelt write from you. WE can feel your pain. Here was my favorite part: tomorrow is a new day i know not what it brings but if it brings you back my soul will loudly sing Thanks so much for your generous comment about my wife poem. Luv, andrea

It is so hard to live with a loss like this, John. I'm sorry you've had to go through this. You express your sadness and acceptance eloquently, my friend. Love, Carolyn
