For Her , I'D Gladly Bleed

For Her , I'd Gladly Bleed

Thank God, finally found what I've never had
Missing those hugs and kisses my life was so sad
Her love and smiles are all that I ever want
not living without them , here's praying I don't

Gone are cold mornings waking up all alone
Of my past dark deeds I can never atone
With her body laying softly next to mine
she keeps me from again crossing that line

Thank God, my sweetest love ever wanted me
giving such joy that my life became so free
Gone are dark nights so filled with deep pain
my darling wife brought back true love again

She got all that I ever want or will ever need
for her life I would gladly cut and bleed
She is all that I had hoped to ever get
for me she is life's greatest love and perfect fit

Thank God, I found what made me so glad
when my life was low and heart hurt so bad
I have it all, this the greatest love I've now got
some are so blessed while sadly others are not

Thank God, finally found what I've never had
Missing those hugs and kisses my life was so sad
Her love and smiles are all that I ever want
not living without them , here's praying I don't

Robert Lindley, 11-30-2014

note: Here at the end of the rodeo I finally find the gal for me(ten years now).
Perhaps it only came about because I changed. I softened and mellowed
out . I banished my wild streak and asked for help from a higher power.

Well done, Robert! Since I've known you on Soup I have always admired your frankness and the respect you have for wife and family. That avatar speaks a lot, too. I enjoyed this lovely and honest poem; I am happy for you that you found what really matters in life. Take care. // paul

Thank you Harry. Poets that write in an analytical way are mysteries to me. I find that poetry is about writing and expressing ones heart and soul. Poets write for many reasons. I write about life, love, misdeeds, forgiveness, Nature, spirit and imaginations that are hopefully instructive, entertaining and revealing to others.

I think you are correct.. She knows my faithfulness is rock solid and our love eternal. Such a blessing I had never even imagined long ago.. A family makes all the difference in the world. Walking a faithfilled path in life does that.

Today, I showed Riza this poem. My God, she burst out in tears! I had expected something different and it shocked me, then suddenly she grabbed me and she hugged me so hard it nearly broke my back! Took her a couple minutes to stop crying. Me too...... Thanks to all that commented. I appreciate your words-- truly, more than you know.

My dear friend, you are so correct. Riza thinks this the best poem I've ever written. Perhaps it is as I poured my heart into it not holding back anything. I did that with my River of Acheron poem and it seems to have not made a mark. We poets just never know but in this case I know. Her loving it so much was the validation! All I ever needed. I am now a poet.....

Thank you Brenda. I wish everybody to find this kind of life and peace. I may write of my past and turmoil then but now its a different story.

Robert . . . Heartfelt, passionate -- and full of emotion, power, and love. All ingredients for a top-drawer poem. And with God's help, even more powerful. A big "7" from me my good friend, and this one's a FAV for me!! Best Wishes Always, Gary
