For Her
I have tried now for years
To keep you from tears
and make all of your ghosts go away
I've tried as I might
And held on real tight
to love that is here today
In a moment of need
I've offered to bleed
brought light to the darkest day
In the shadows of night
Just out of the light
I turn with something to say
This love that we have shared
Oh lord if I dare
keep us as long as we may
