For Eileen Manassian

The one I call sister is gone
Where can I find her
When I feel all alone

I look for her name
and something new
Her voice was my company
My foreign view

I need this feeling
A way to touch
Behind the battle lines
Both of us

My danger is only
Constant fear
After years of knowing
She disappears

Words so sweet
They satisfied
They always rang of truth
And never lied

And here I come to this address
Her absence the cause of my distress
I never thought
to have a daughter in the army

Bombs exploding,
Buildings falling
I wonder if she sleeps at night
Or listen for noises that cause great fright

O Lord, My God
If you hear
Be her shelter
Let her know we care

Thank you so much for this lovely poem, dear. So so kind of you. I was wondering if anyone missed me here. Don't worry too much. I'm in a safe area though bombs have landed in Beirut. The sound of drones was driving us crazy. We're safe. Thank you for caring.

You're the only one who did wonder why I'm not here... so thanks.

I am really confused! I went to see her picture. She is the same woman from Lebanon who is over at Facebook as Eileen Ghali. Something like that. I just liked one of her posts the other day. You are on FB. She is over there, John. Why are poets here acting as if she passed away?

IDK She's in the war zone and probably don't know who to trust.

Hi, I remember Eileen well and read some of her poems. She's in a better place now. I once suggested there should be a site for departed poets, but the Soup ignored the suggestion.

Seems like I remember her, John. There were many people who did not come back on after COVID hit or so it seems to me. I don't know if they were among the ones who passed from it or not. Sorry you miss her so much. Sara K.
