For a Special Ed Teacher
For A Special Ed Teacher
There is a special place of just one shelf
Where gifts from all the kids I taught reside
The toys with meanings only for myself
But meanings none-the-less I keep with pride.
It’s Christmas and I add another toy
A plastic Bear about two inches tall
A special gift loved only by a boy
Who gleams with joy when showing it to all.
It’s now beside a Santa in a cart
Collecting dust against the basement wall
It holds the magic of that young boy’s heart
Who learned to talk that year surprising all.
Another year of gifts has come and gone
Another year of memories live on.
