For a Morsel of Love

a squirrel
startles me
posing
for a portrait
of a beggar
for a morsel
of love
what it means
in the vast
scheme of things
i try
to contemplate
but the
sliver moon's
crevices
beckon...

You can take this beggar and his friends back home for pets; they are getting aggressive at my house. Throwing my bird feeders onto the forest floor when they are finished emptying them.

Aggression in everything now... the natural order of things upended... a harbinger of something... :) gw

Mmm, I like this! The other day, barefoot in the woods, talking about the heatwave with another dog walker, thankful that the nights have been cool, I “knocked on wood” on a little tree and a squirrel fell out! ;D, startled the squirrel!
