Footprints In the Sand
Our lion
Our power
When nobody else would speak
You opened up your mouth for us
When nobody else believed
You believed it for us.
They tried to step on you
Silence you, defeat you
Take your voice away
But even with the lightest shrill
You spoke, you were heard.
You dreamed big, you dreamed large
For all of us and saw beyond any horizon,
You left your footprints not only in the sand
But you engraved your legacy in our memory
Our lion who roared and cried
You never gave up at any moment
No matter how high the price was
You paid without pulling back your arm.
But such is the course of life
You never saw your dream to reality
But you dreamed for us all and now
We have been changed by your belief
Your legacy here will be of hope
Of a brighter day we continue to yearn for
Though no sign, no gateway for the sun to be
Released onto the earth, we still hope with you
We hope for you
