Footprints

Footprints - bare in the wet sand
Mine following joining yours
For you asked and you promised
And on your word I gave them you

Each step we took side by side
Our footprints together we left
Memories for but a short time
Forever engraved in my mind

Towards the shore the wind blows
Waves distracting as they land
Rippling across the surface
White bubbles caressing sand

The tide creeps in ever so slowly
Waves lapping advancing the shore
Hiding and stealing our footprints
So that we are visible no more

Waves crashing white surf churning
Footprints tumbling and breaking
Wave after wave cold froth forming
In its wake but a broken union

Now my own steps I walk lonely
Sinking deep in the soft white sand
Far from the foamy shore I wander
No longer there to hold my hand

Another sad piece Tracy that had promise in the beginning but a lonely ending. Sorry not more are commenting on your poems. This site takes a while to warm up to people. Keep writing.
