Fool's Jump
We're at the cliff of decisions
standing as shaky as shaky can be
hoping the ground won't give way and quick crumble
throwing us down to the insatiable sea
We built up this sabotage mountain
on promises caught up in dishonest air,
on moments where only a single heart beat
was enough for the both of our bodies to share
Now as I glance over toward you,
I realize only you have a parachute on
In the blink of an eye, rush of wind past my arm
I try to reach out to you, you’re already gone.
Gasp of my breath, hand of shock at my mouth
and in a split second I know
I close my eyes tighter than ever before
and down toward your shadow I go.
