Foolish Sunflower

Foolish Sunflower,
young, fresh, yellow
but she was foolish
Bitterly she hated the Sun,
she said;

“I’ll not look at the Sun.
Moon is my best friend
Him I’ll hug, chat with, kiss
The Sun is cruel; he burns
my lipstick and make-ups-
all beauty are gone”, she said

Happy she was in defiance,
And lo! She became stunted
pale, pink  and ugly!
Boys laughed and laughed
crowds jeered and cheered!
