Foolish

Holding on to empty hopes,
figuring out ways to cope,
sadness playing on the strings
while the jesters sorrow sings.

Foolish am I for holding on so,
foolish for thoughts of letting go, oh
I lost happy a long time ago,
where am I, I just don't know.

Waiting for midnight to drown me,
gazing at the galaxies that astound me,
I'm just a little bit afraid of the dark
and the sound of my breaking heart.

Foolish am I for holding on so
Foolish for the thoughts of letting go, oh
I lost happy a long time ago
where am I, I just don't know

I'm sorry I am so afraid
dreading mistakes I haven't made,
doubting myself, doubting wisdom
Into the darkness here I come

Foolish steps I keep on taking,
cracks of glass I hear when I'm waking
it's not only my heart I'm breaking

Foolish am I for holding on so
foolish for the letting go, oh
I'm that fool that you know...
 just let me go.

If the world let go of their empty hopes, where would we be? Sometimes they are revived, alive and better than ever! A nice read, Casarah.

Life is a balance of holing on and letting go... never an easy decision though..

Sad and haunting, Casarah. I like your word flow and rhythm. // Barry
