Food Delivery

Our fridge is full to bursting – The food arrived today. It’s always nice to see so much Just waiting, on display. The staples we rely on Plus, of course, a little splurge – Today it was a key lime pie For which I had the urge. The fruit and veggie bins are stuffed; The shelves are crammed as well. We’ve not forgotten anything, As far as I can tell. So now we can begin the job, Which I cannot resist, Of digging in, until it’s time For our next shopping list.

I have a small closet in the kitchen stocked with foods I enjoy, mostly canned or dry. Once a month I replace what I've used or add new things – if the price is right. I'm most a veggie freak so I buy enough to last about a week. Right now I'm on an avocado craze. Key lime pie is not a favorite of mine, lemon tarte or leomon meringue oe lemon squares are. Always appreciate hearing from you and reading your work. / Maiurice

I swear this pandemic is the reason I weigh more now than I have ever weighed in my life. This poem fits in well with my new life theme of collecting and eating comfort food. So timely Ilene.

I don't have much in my refrigerator right now, so reading this descriptive poem has made me hungry. Great write as usual, Ilene.
