Follow Me

Follow Me
By Kevin Robey
October 24, 2013

Just follow me, I know the way
Just follow me, I'll never stray
Take my hand for one more night
One more night, I'll be all right

Our memory, shelter from the storm
Those haunting dreams to keep me warm
You walk away for the very first time
Thoughts that say you stole what was mine

I always sacrificed, you never gave
The promises you couldn't save
Wasted on you, ironic but true
You couldn't save yourself from you

Now it's gone without a trace
No bitterness left in the waste
Just memories that still shine bright
Through winter storms, the darkest nights

It's falling now, the reality around
brings me where my mind is found
I still believe in what we once saw
As ice in my veins begins to thaw

For now my friend we'll walk alone
Till hands we hold, no longer our own
I won't regret, I'll never die
When words we say no longer lie

I smile now because I made it through
The suicide summer my nightmares knew
I laugh out loud, I'll never disavow
Words never said that time won't allow
