Flying Like a Lark
I wish to flutter in the sky,
Like a lark to fly very high
But build my nest where dwell all men
Settle where reside all my friends;
I wish to be cheery like bees
Glide along the sky ever free
Roam amidst the expanse of fields
Rove up the height of greenish hills;
I wish my fill to pick from trees,
From fruits, leaves, insects and some fleas
Glide along with the southern breeze
And bask in the sunshine with ease;
I wish to hop from tree to tree
Exult amidst bushes with glee
From spring days to summer season
Learning from elders my lesson;
With coming fall, to warmer climes
I shall flee in search of sunshine,
But with onset of signs of spring
Back to my loving nest I`ll swing;
I wish at my journey`s dead end
To soar where sky and heaven blend
And reach the apex of my goal
To provide solace to my soul.
