Listen to poem:
Fly me to the moon
Fly me to the moon
Let me twirl beneath the stars.
Strolling on the Moon,
on this bright sun-lit April day.
Let me see what Spring is like.
Leaping over crater scars,
Skipping o'er the Oceanus Procellarum.
like a stone, like a stone.
Don't leave me on the fly-by
Let me land, let me land!
In other words,
Hold my hand
Hold my hand
Fill my life with a lunar lilt song
As I'm skipping, hopping, drifting along.
I’m so close I ache to feel—
the soft squelch of dust beneath my boots,
leaving my prints
on the Moon's smiling compliant face.
Alone in this place
dancing in space,
dancing in space.
What’s the Moon to me and you.
If I never make my move?
Just a silver lullaby dream
I can circle, but never prove—
Let me down to clown around!
Let me land, let me touchdown
Let me show you my best moves,
as I yearn the grove.
Perhaps! I'll sneak away,
on the dark side,
on the dark side.
Where no one can watch me,
slip down there and play.
I'll dust my boots, when I return,
brush all over my orange suit,
so you'll never know.
I've been down there on the far side
playing around, clowning around.
So, let me fly on the moon
before I go to the dark side,
Perhaps to never return!
Perhaps to never return!
