Fly

I know no one really cares about me, i can see it in their eyes
They want me to trust them, i can hear it in their lies
I wish i could believe those who try to help me out
I hope one day i wont rely on doubt
some say worthless, others say i'm too perfect
i look in the mirror and see what i reflect
i see a girl waiting to die
i see a boy try to get by
a little boy getting shoved
you now what we ll have in common? we all want to be loved
and after all of our trials
others think we aren't worth the while
so when you see me in the halls crawling
don't leave me to feel like i'm falling
show us that we're not alone
make us feel like we're on a throne
we all belong here, but not all of us know why
so wherever you go, look for me, teach me how to fly

I like the duality of this piece, it has a hypnotic quality that drew me in. At first it felt dark and yet there remained a glimmer of hope. It is doubtful that the narrator is unloved and still he/she is trapped within a faulty premiss. It is true all wish to be loved but not all are open to recieve the love that is offered.
