Fly

"Fly"




Enigma

Out of nowhere
his voices arrived

He thought he’d 
write a poem

Senryu
get the In to the Outside 

Simple magic
3 lines

Mind erect
his smalls itched

freeze 
dried

His mind CPTSD 
crying lied

Laughing outside
he watched his inside 

Hanging unwanted questions 
out on the literary clothes line

snapped tight then closed
by all the wooden clothes pegs

crying 
no colour in their lines

bingo

POTD delivered
applied

He’s dressed in 
Gold Lamé 

Sacrificial 
bright 

But they spit him out
he’s too Blue dyed

Easy 
release

he came for a while
he cried

They nodded knowingly
they smiled

He was an Anomaly
Not part of their mouse-clicking pride

They all wanted
a pretty reliable Relatable

just like them
Tie-Dyed

He was an annoying
buzzing fly

Less than equal
they ignored his 

Soul 
Sigh

He was a treasure box of pearls
spilling before swine

Well penned, Kai Lady Labyrinth February 16, 2020 at 3:49 PM Sometimes, I surprise myself. I hadn't watched Joaquin's rendition until I came across this short in Youtube. It brought to mind a character I met in 2009. Then I began to think of another person I know very well. That prompted me to consider the Joker's mental health diagnosis...which holistically unfolded in my mind to correspond with a person/s outside of the Soup and within. The flawed characters are the ones with the stories that intrigue, and leave you wanting to solve the mystery. I watched the full movie last night, Pheonix delivered a performance that well deserved the Oscar award.

Characters like that, the ones that are marred by some life experience, the ones that are so not perfect, the ones that are cracked, intrigue me the most. Their history. What is coursing deep under the exterior of a person. The stories that aren't all dripping milk and honey, romance, roses, rainbows, fairies and unicorns. That is what draws my attention.

I'm not interested in fake. I am not ignited by same-old-same-old romance dreamscapes, throw burning jagged reality in to the mix, whether it be romance or another genre, you can candy coat it if you must with a bit of Grimms Brothers - but reality wins, every time. Perfect does not entrance me, because Perfect is not real. I'm not fascinated by Mills 'N Boons or doing it the right way by method or recipe.
