Flutter of Wings

The night was black
not even a shadow
cast in such darkness
The night was silent
so intense
I heard my own heart beat
The night was still
when from nowhere
a light so bright it filled my room
and in that silence
a gentle flutter of wings
I felt its presence
but, all too soon it left
alone once more
silence fell
and, in the morning
a single feather lay on my floor.

A mystery of the night remained unsolved but the poem that left behind fills the heart with joy! Well done dear, Julie!

thank you- I once dreamt I saw an angel and in the morning a white feather lay on my pillow- I have always wondered if it was a dream as it was the night someone close died. Hugs Julie xxx
