Flowers

Dried now and so
Lifeless and frail
Cut flowers shortened
Life to no avail
Thrown in a heap
Todays’ compost
Raise your glass
To the living
One last toast
I prefer the potted
Plant of green
Filtering the air
Toxins not seen
And a longer life
It will have
Than its cousins
The cut flowers
Vased in water
Life drained in
Just a few hours
Planted in soil
With worms in the roots
Plants of green outlast
Given nutrient boosts

Dear Kelli, I have learned that my wife does not prefer cut flowers but desires potted plants. She has a green thumb, and it sounds like you do. Well Inked! - Autumn Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel
