Flower

I came upon a fragrant flower
Deep blue and green at midnight hour
A smell from which I couldn’t name
Distraught was I it sounds so lame
I stuck my nose inside its bloom
Breathing deeply it made me swoon
So fresh and sweet but deeply dark
Blue and green it’s petals did part
It hugged me thus and oh so tight
Warming my soul in the cold at night
When morning came we did depart
The plant retreated back to the dark
It’s shriveled petals of blue and green
Now long lost as if a dream
