Florida Summer
Dizzy from the red cup party.
Walking blocks to the beach.
Ears still ringing and singing songs off key.
Swearing as we held hands and danced
To the music of the blaring cars that drove by.
We were so young and full of obnoxious witty spirit.
The five of us kicking off our high heels as we left trails of red,
white and blue clothes tossed over the damp sand.
Warm sea water drowned in our mascara
as the black X’s washed off the tops of our hands.
Get in! We yelled to the starring boys as they walked by.
Our bare breast as floats as we laid on our backs
to watch the lively fireworks over our spiraling heads.
The moon lite ocean and five girls splashing their arms.
This is what Florida Summer was made of.
