Floral Farewell

Velvet red roses stand cheek to cheek with daisy faces, ringed in petal fringes, sweetly scented by creamy bubbles of double jonquil popcorn blooms beside a starburst yellow chrysanthemum, and long leaves squeezed between. Below, their stem-straws blur in the ribbed glass jar, looped with a satin orange bow for your 97 years we must farewell soon. The loved ones are visiting, bringing flowers, hugs, reminiscences for you, last of your generation - two brothers, two sisters. I don't want to say, 'Goodbye'. Let's have a few more days, or weeks, or months, just for keeping company, like the flower bunch.

A poignant write! Flowers in a vase bidding goodbye, soon saying hello to grief, but begging more time, to keep company. A fave. It stirs my tears. hugs…

Farewells are never easy: iv had three funerals this year, one just a week ago. And altho i know they are going to a better place, it just is painful and sad. Youv written very well a fragrant farewell in such a poignant and poetic manner. Sending you light always

Thanks for your kind thoughts. The world changes when loved ones leave. I always want to leave cut flowers until they drop because they still have beauty at the end. I will miss this dear lady. J

It is sad. My mother-in-law has pancreatic cancer and is fading ( not yet bed-ridden), I love her. Thanks for your comments. J x

Ahh!! Sad one. I am not sure if it is the death of this person or if they are on their death bed or if a birthday. It is sad to say our farewells to someone we love. My mother and father both lived to be almost 97 just short by 2 weeks and mother 1 month shy. Sara K
