Flights of Fancy

For long
She flew high
Bringing back laughs,
Sometimes sighs.
There was nothing
Out of her reach-
Aware of this,
I would always
Coax her and beseech
After all,
I needed fodder
For my creativity
To write about him,
Write about her,
Given in ample measure
By Fancy-
Roaming free,
But gradually
The winged creature
Turned lazy
Those flights slowly curbed,
Then nestled in
A beautiful, angelic form
Result-
Nothing new
Gone the varied hues
More I tried to be different,
More the same
My wild fancy, completely tamed
For me life, lived
Ever since
That beauty arrived
Today, she the first
She the last
But, sadly
My ‘Flights of fancy’
Now,
An irretrievable past
