Flight

Down, up from a cushioned seat,
Back, forth across the parking lot,
I notice five lights flying beyond
The great sky of stationary points
On a figure of a floating cross.
Four are white at each end,
And one is red at the tail.
They venture east of Athens,
As I secure the hospice of visitors,
Who are buying, selling, trading, touring...
Cheering for those reaching for gold.
Some are thrilled by victory,
Others, agonized by defeat,
As all the world still for the last play,
And the Games of a lifetime come to an end.
So, goes my vision of flight
In the night and far out of sight,
As I return to my post,
Down, up from a cushioned seat,
Back, forth across the parking lot.
