FLICKERING THOUGHTS

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is a moth trapped between window and lamp~ beating its wings against the glass but never quite reaching the light. Some days, it’s a candle snuffed by the slightest breath, only to flare again when no one is watching. Other times, it’s a projector spooling broken film~ faces without names, names without faces, scenes that dissolve. And in the dark, when the body is still, it becomes a switchboard of crossed wires~ static hissing, connections missed, a voice on the line that never quite says what you thought it would. But sometimes, just sometimes~ it is the spark that catches the tinder, the thought that burns clean through the night.
Congratulations on your winning work in Brian's contest. Way to go. Sometimes in life our thoughts can be very scary when we are anxious or depressed or every mixture of emotions possible. Sara K
