Flicker Back

I read the language of your flame
in whispers the world never taught me--
where every breath leaves ash on the soul
and love glows
just before it burns.

You speak in storms,
in echoes of rose and ruin,
where every pulse is both prayer and dare,
and I find myself--
not lost, but undone.

The beauty is brutal,
but oh, how it sings--
this art of bleeding bright
beneath a twilight of truths
too tender for silence.

I don’t fear the flicker,
I answer it.

...and I'm feeling that way now. :) Intense empathy is how you're writing in this one. It's deep.

Thank you so much, Paige. That means a lot to hear. I'm glad the emotion came through so strongly--it was definitely one of those poems that wrote itself from a very raw place. I'm really touched it resonated with you.

You have answered the flicker of love fortune with a fearless faith that follows starlight into the secret joy of your heart's innocence Alesia. This poem is extraordinary with defiant, yet sensitive passion! I love it! Very rich feeling and taste. "In echoes of rose and ruin..." Great expression this poem of your heart is...J.A.B. A FAV!!
