Flavour of the Month
FLAVOUR OF THE MONTH
As competitions are high and the finishing times are nigh
If not in the top five winners, or mentioned, left with why
Thoughts plundered, rearranged, wrote between the lines
Written over cups of coffee, tea or that bottle of red wine
Past thoughts, wild imagination to grab the readers minds
Before retiring off to bed as the pulling down of the blinds
The days of restlessness and trepidation for that final day
Just to check out if you are on the winner's list in any way
The winner takes a bow whilst the poor losers take the fall
Accolades graciously accepted as your name upon the wall
Competition is over, and yet again writers oil up their pens
For yet another competition their poems they can on send
For some, there is no recognition as others always upfront
Losers sigh why cannot I once be the flavour of the month
