By Laura June 18, 2015 When i told you i was looking for the heavens above You told just to stay here so you could drown me in love We made some empty promises and tried to make-believe But I never really belonged there with the birds and the bees Maybe I should let go of those desperate times I left you in a cold place but I kept what was mine Maybe you'll forgive me for the lies that I spun I was just a poor boy down the shaft of a gun Looking down the barrel I played games with my life Then you tried to save me from the edge of a knife Looking through the picture of our perfect sunshine Pouring one more empty glass of three dollar wine I wish I could have told you that it wasn't your fault You used to be my best friend 'till we led that assault Bruised and bloody by the steady hands we used to hold Flashes of our distant smiles; the greatest tale never told
