Five New Poems

Five new poems today
Whatever shall I say
If I apply myself, just right
I might have time to play . . .

THE BALLAD OF THE WIND

The wind is such a fickle thing
It blows with such a force
Occasionally, it takes a break
To choose a different course

It brings the cloudy sky at night
The lightning and the storm
The raindrops on my windowpane
My comfort when I’m warm

The wind may be a fearful thing
To some who heed the gale
But when the trees are tall and proud
They tell a different tale

I love the wind, the gush of air
That makes a perfect match
The wind is such a dear old friend
The kind I’ll never catch.

THE BALLAD OF THE SKY

I love the sky, in every phase
In all I like to do
The sky is always there for me
The way it is for you

In pleasant shades of blue and bright
The sky is like the sea
It rolls a welcome day along
And sets my spirit free

The setting sun, though clear and bright
May cover me in red
The clouds which cover me at night
Are visions in my head

The sun that fades behind a hill
Is burning like a fire
It means the dawn will come again
To spark each new desire

I love the silent sky at night
The stars that shine above
The quiet conversation
Preceding acts of love

The moon is like a dear old friend
That glows for me and you
And though the night is at an end
The sky is just as true.
