Five Letter Word
Theres a five letter word thats messing with people’s heads
It a five letter word that causes so much stress
and you wouldnt think that a five letter word could do so much damage
but that five letter word carries so much baggage
It’s the reason we see ourselves as too fat or too skinny
or in a way that’s so unappealing
upset with our appearance
cause we never learned to accept ourselves
to cherish ourselves
to take care ourselves
and not mess up ourselves
to say “I don’t care what anybody thinks”
“It doesn’t matter because this is me”
cause in just one blink
we could be gone
and I dont want to waste my life trying to please others without pleasing me
You see
this word did a number on me
it wrote the laws
I didnt fit the script
so it took away who I was
this word was the bricks weighing me down
as I struggled to break free and lift off the ground
and this word had me all tied up
with my thoughts and emotions
They just sat in a cup
detached from me
the reason I couldn’t see clearly
what’s missing
Me!
that’s right
I was clearly missing me
cause I was too focused on this word that drowned me
dragged me
and eventually buried me
I didn’t know a word could be so powerful
That it could make me forget that I am wonderful
Beatiful and magical
Mystical and lyrical
What he made me to be
and these are just words to describe me
theres tons out there I hope that you can see
that your more than what this word says you should be
be happy in your skin
and not settle to fit in
cause I let this happen and I lost my way
but eventually I was able to get away
I’m telling you this because I knew
What it’s like
