Fishing with Jesus

The cool crisp fog blankets the pond, no soul in sight, the water is like glass, calm as can be, the fall color leaves still on the trees, it’s as if a mirage of red, Brown, yellow painted by God..

I bate my hook, raise my pole, cast out my worries, to the almighty Savior as my line gently lands on the still waters, life was made for thus very moment, let no woman interfere.. as God made man to be fisherman of His mighty son did he not?

Take a big sip of my hot cup of Joe, take the load off in my chair, feel the troubles of my old body ever so disappear, a old guy only needs a full tackle box, can of worms to be happy, watch the sunrise as it appears over the trees..

I feel a gentle tug on my line, croppy, bluegil, big mouth bass, pike, I’m not too picky, for Jesus is keeping me company, a man alone time fishing is the goal, which ever fish I have caught, is like a prayer we all say, it’s not what Jesus hears that matters most, but that you kept him company.

I stand to reel in the line, I can see the line bend in my grasp, it’s a large mouth bass oh what a story this will make, to my army buddies in the bunker, for it is for them I am here, I raise my coffee in a toast, “Thus one’s for you brothers, we are going to eat good tonight”.

Thank you Jesus, you heard my prayer, my buddy asked me to catch the big one, so we can live vicariously through you.
