Fishing For Life

there is a pool of words
in me I know there is
one I learned to use
in my early years of need
I used to flee and swim
in it when the world
to me was all closed doors

the words would come
enclose me willingly
vibrant fish displaying all
their startling colours
eager to be caught by me
for a life having a voice
in the pattern of a verse
