First Sonnet For My Love
My first sonnet for my love
Sun, moon and stars: heaven’s near to my side
when beside her I walk, gently her hand
I hold, strong, soft lady-like touch, I sigh.
Her voice so sweet like song birds of the land.
Where did you come from? How did you find me?
Twas luck, perchance? Or fate that found you here?
My spirit rejoices in my heart’s glee
that where thou goest my heart shall be there.
To dream a dream and for it to come true
tis no more beautiful thing on the earth
or in heavens’ expansive sky where flew
grace and beauty which sang of you from birth.
Fair skin and fairer still thy voice which calleth,
nothing hath on me like this befalleth.
