First Memory

When not yet two, I stood transfixed before a museum’s staged depiction of a cougar killing a deer. Terror filled her eyes. Blood soaked her coat. My mother says it took twenty minutes to pull me away from that scene! in my memory death clings like a cougar’s teeth on its victim’s neck July 9, 2020 for Line Gauthier's A Memory Poetry Contest Prose part word count = 40

I can picture what impression that image would've had on a tender mind at that age. Love how intricately you've described it Andrea. Congratulations on your win. I've been catching up on reading your poems now that I got some time after two weeks. Thanks for visiting my page. Blessings and love :)

Wow, Andrea, you really dug deep into your memory banks for this. Maybe this explains why you like dark movies and shows! Congrats!

My first ghastly memory was at a museum in SLC displaying the mummified remains of Native Americans. Then and there I determined to be cremated so the Christians could not get their hands on me! Best wishes for sweeter memories! Aloha! Rico
